Praises to the most high – Jehovah Jireh, El Shaddai, Prince of Peace, Bright and Morning Star, Strong Tower, Beginning and the End, Author and Finisher, Alpha and Omega: Without you there is no me and no venue for me to creatively express myself. I love you Jesus. I worship and adore you. Just want to tell you; Lord I love you more than anything.

To all of my future fans, I love you already! Thanks for the support. I hope that Is Love Enough? takes you on a semi- old school, yet realistic urban journey that will have you feigning for more. From now on, I am going to call all of you: The Urban Drama Feigns.

To mommy’s baby – my 3 year old son “King”: Mommy loves you, and you are my motivation. Without you coming along, I would still have a drawer of written manuscripts that I was afraid to show anyone. You are my greatest gift from God, and the one thing in this world that I would surely die without.

Shout out to my mother and father, the two people that I forbid to read any of my books, lol. I love you! Shout out to my sisters and brother: one sister is 15, so I know she is reading these types of books on the low (if she is anything like I was), one enjoys them like they were by Ashley Antoinette or Wahida Clark, and my brother, who will probably be shocked at some of the details. To my friends whom have been reading them as I write them, I appreciate your input, dedication, and all of your help to make these books better.

To my husband--- WHERE THE HELL ARE YA? I’m waiting on you!

Is Love Enough? is a book dedicated to all of my family and friends whom have supported me as I began this journey in 2007. I have written many manuscripts, and they always questioned when I was going to actually get any of them published. This will be the first of many, and I hope that you guys enjoy it tremendously.

CHAPTER 1

Summer 2008

It’s about 85 degrees outside, but it feels like 97 degrees. All of my girls are stuck in the house because they got kids and/or dead-beat ass boyfriends, so I’m about to go out with my whack ass boyfriend and do me.

I hop in my burnt orange ‘07 Chrysler Sebring and let the top down, cruising to “If This World Were Mine” by Luther Vandross, because it’s a classic. And at this time, I need some Luther to clear my head. I turned left off of Humphrey onto Lake St., then right down Central. I tried to see what all of my hood folks were up to, but ain’t nothing going on; fiends killing themselves over the blow, little kids riding their bikes, niggas stunting in their Chargers, and hood rats with their walking shoes on.

I turned left on Madison, about to go to the gas station on Lavergne. And as soon as I got to the corner of Madison and Lotus, who did I see?

I busted a U in the middle of the street; filled with all kinds of anxiety from just looking at him. I could still remember the first time that I met him:

“Tina- I think I met him!” I yelled, as I entered the school building on the corner of 5th and Kostner at 8am promptly.

“You think you met who?” she asked, looking at me like I had lost my mind.

“I think I met him- the ONE!” I smiled.

“Girl, where is he- I’ll tell you if he is the one!” She knew that I was dramatic, so she didn’t believe me.

“No, he is…. He is a new transfer in Mrs. Johnson’s class. I bumped into him in the hallway, and I think I fell in love.” I put my arms to my chest as if I were hugging a teddy bear or something.

“You are living in a fairy tale,” Tina said, as she walked into the washroom on the first floor of the school.

“I’m going to find him and ask him his name!” I yelled into the bathroom.

“Pleeeeeeeasssssssse. You are NOT! Besides, if he is in the 8th grade, then he’s about to graduate and you two will be going off to different high schools anyway!”

“Just wait until you see him!” I said, still infatuated with the boy I had seen earlier, and I didn’t even know his name.

He was beautifully bright, with long wavy hair—I bet he was a mix of black and white. He had freckles on his face, and his teeth were shiny white when he smiled at me earlier.

“Tina- I love him!” I said to her, as we walked to 1st period.
